Geary Center is providing educational services for children ages 3 to 5 years old. It is located at 6221 Geary Boulevard on the first floor of Richmond Senior Center Building. We currently serve children in two full day classrooms. The center has a wonderful rooftop playground with a climbing structure, sand and water play area as well as plenty of space to ride tricycles.

Our teachers are certified professionals who coordinate age appropriate activities to facilitate the children's growth and development. Activities include stories, pretend play, cooking activities, science, art, music, body motion, outdoor activities and Field Trips into the community. Activities enhance the children' growth in cognitive, linguistic, social and physical areas. These are skills children need as they grow and move on to kindergarten.

We have a family advocate on site to provide resources and assistance for families in the area of Health, Dental care, Mental Health, Nutrition & Social Services.

We also provide referral services for in depth evaluations regarding your child's growth and development.

If you would like more information we would be happy to hear from you.

Center Story

After being a stay home mother for six years, Xiao May Lu's journey with Kai Ming Head Start began with her two children both attending the program for two years and both graduating from Kai Ming Head Start. During the time her children were enrolled in Kai Ming, she was able to continue her education, improve her English, and gain skills necessary for employment. As a Kai Ming parent, Xiao said, "I have benefited from the program because I feel more confident about my life and have more motivation to work hard for myself and my family. I was encouraged to volunteer in the classroom and participate many workshops at Kai Ming. I had the opportunities to attend parenting workshops, nutrition workshops, children safety workshops, and car seat safety workshops." Through attending the parent workshops and volunteering in the classroom, Xiao gained confidence in her ability to work well with children and she said, "I have found my interest in working with families and children related services, and I would like to pursue a career in Child Development. My time as a volunteer in the Kai Ming Head Start program was well spent, and the personal rewards gained from working with young children influenced and shaped my career goals. Kai Ming has motivated me to be a hard working person who truly opens to learn new things. I have been feeling good for myself and have become an advocate for my families and friends." Xiao has worked hard to gain experience as a part-time teacher assistant at Kai Ming Head Start, and more recently she has been hired as a full-time Kai Ming Assistant Teacher. Xiao is also currently working diligently toward her degree. Kai Ming Head Start truly makes a difference in families.
