Geary has been providing childcare services to children and their families for almost five years. We serve children ages 3 to 5 years old. Children require having physical and dental exam before or upon entering the program. It is located at 6221 Geary Boulevard on the first floor of Richmond Senior Center Building.
We currently serve 52 children from low-income families. There are 3 classrooms. The first classroom is a full day, schedule running from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. The second and 3rd classroom are currently Part day, running from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. The two Part day classrooms are in the process of converting into a Full day program. The time will be 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. The target date to convert is February 23, 2009. Our teachers are certified professionals who coordinates age appropriate activities to facilitate the children' growth. These activities include stories, pretend play, cooking activities, art, music, body motion, outdoor activities and Field trips into the community. There activities enhance the children' growth in cognitive, linguistic, social areas and physical. These are skills children need as they grow.
The class ratio of staff to students is 1:10 in the classroom and 1:6 when going on Field trips for safety. We welcome parent volunteers in our program, in the classroom and in Field trips. In order for parents to volunteer they need to have a TB clearance.
Our program offers the services of Family Advocate. The advocate is available to provide resources and other personnel assist children and families in the area of Health, Dental care, Mental Health, Nutrition & Social services. Our program is able to provide referral for in depth evaluations regarding your child's growth and development.
