Dear Friends,
Kai Ming Head Start will be holding a fundraising event, “Together we Raise them Up” charity concert, performed by Star Valley Children’s Choir at the First Unitarian Universalist Church on November 19, Saturday, at 3:00 PM. We are writing to request your support for the Kai Ming kids and families.
Kai Ming has been providing high quality early childhood educational programs to families in need for over 35 years in San Francisco. The service we are providing is a comprehensive package including preschool, social service, parent education, food and nutrition. Every year, we serve 300 children which include 85% of Chinese-American and 15% of multicultural backgrounds.
In the past three years we have been experiencing the toughest economic climate in the United States. Kai Ming is not immune to this environment. Our mission of providing one of the best early childhood educational program and related services to low-income families is facing headwinds. We have always been proud of our comprehensive services which include free meals while children are at school. Studies have shown that children cannot learn on a hungry stomach. However, due to the reduction of State budget and increase of food costs, we need you to show your compassion to support meals for the Kai Ming children.
In the “Together we Raise them Up” charity concert, we are proudly presenting the Star Valley Children’s Choir. Led by renowned soprano Sherlin Chan, the choir has been active in the Bay area for nearly eight years and often participated in community activities with beautiful choral performances. Among the numerous recognitions it received, the Choir was given a Gold Award by the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim in 2008. Children of the Choir are from families all over the Bay area, with the majority from the north peninsula.
On behalf of the Kai Ming Head Start, I am urging you to show your generosity in supporting our fundraising concert. Your tax deductible contribution of any amount to continue our mission of providing high quality preschool education to families in need in our community in these difficult times is greatly appreciated. Attached with this letter is a list of suggested support levels and how you can promote your business on the concert program in print. Thank you very much!
Yours Truly,
Jerry Yang, PhD
Executive Director

North Beach Center received a kind donation from ING Direct Books for Kids Foundation. The research in early learning has shown that READING is the most important indicator for children’s success. Thanks Books For Kids and ING Direct for recognizing the importance of reading and invest the community in this area.
We appreicate the donation itself and also the advocacy of reading from ING Direct. This library will benefit our families and children from better reading environment as well as enhanced reading materials. Sep 12, 2011 was the day our ING Library grand opening ceremony. It was also Chinese Moon Festival. The perfect moon is a symbol of family reunion and friendship reunion. We are so glad that many parents were there to join the ceremony.
